A small message to announce you an interesting article discovered on the site:

"Many alternatives exist to the automobile way of transportation, among which the public transportation and the active ways of transportation (bicycle, roller, walking). But in spite of the promotion of these various types of urban transport, the car remains essential in mind of the major part of the western population.
In front of the number of people persuaded by this idea, we could wonder if it is necessary to be completely disconnected from the reality to imagine that a life without car can be perfectly possible for the most part of people.
I think that the problem is taken back to front.
By thinking about it well, the idea seems silly: how did we manage to think that an object costing such a price can be essential to average people life? How did we manage to think that take place of an object which costs so much money can be a luxury? Or that on the contrary, the obligation to take place those who do not have the means to reach the ownership of such an object can be synonymic of marginalization of the society?
And how did we manage to think that the human-sized space can be insufficient in the people well-being?
There are two cases of automobile absence: those who abandoned it and those who have never had it.
Two cases and two manners to think brought into conflict:
- The penitent motorist is going to ask himself the question so: " how I am going to be able to continue to go to the fitness gym of the nearby municipality if I do not have a car anymore? I need to find other solutions, to see if a public transportation allows to go there or if the route is practicable by bicycle. How am I going to be able to transport my shopping of Friday evening? Means I need to find other solutions, to see if certain types of bikes would allow me to transport big loads. How am I going to go on holiday? I will need to verify if the train allows me to replace my automobile route to return me in the city where I decided to go "
- The person who has never had a car is going to ask himself the question so: " I live in such place, what are the available activities around at my home? What are the accessible activities by bicycle? And to where allows me to go the public transportation? What loads am I capable of transporting with my bike or in feet? Am I going to be able to continue to visit such person if I go away from such distance? What is there of interesting to see in my place? And to what places bring me the available trains for the holidays? "
And it is there that all the difference is made. When we established our lifestyle with regard to the car, it is necessary to see again the way it lives or then of finds alternative ways of transportation which can be binding: go to the fitness gym of the nearby municipality without public transportation when this one is 50 km, yes, it is very binding. Certain solutions as the electric bike can be credible alternatives but the purpose remains here to fill the lack of a car-centered lifestyle.
The person who has never had a car is going to rationalize on the contrary its travels, to favor the closeness and to study what is accessible.
We cannot leave the principle that a product so inaccessible as a car (price, physical condition, capacity to be driven, etc.) can be essential to the life of all.
And I encourage those who ask themselves the question " but how to make without car? " To get closer people who have no possibility of having a car and who adapted their life to a human space and not to a space transhumaniste which is not dedicated to become the standard but to remain a luxury."
